On February 5, 2015, Frontier Communications announced a definitive agreement with Verizon to acquire Verizon’s residential, commercial and wholesale wireline operations in California, Texas and Florida. This includes 3.7 million phone, 2.2 million broadband and 1.2 million FiOs video connections. On April 1, 2016, these Verizon services in California, Texas and Florida will switch over to Frontier. This means if you currently have TV, Internet, Phone or FiOS services with Verizon, it will now be provided by Frontier Communications.
It’s important to note that current Verizon customers in these states will not lose their Verizon phone number, services or monthly rate. Those will not change. Customers can use their Verizon account number to create a new Frontier ID in order to manage their account and view bills.
For those who use their Verizon login to stream live TV from apps like WatchESPN, their Verizon credentials will no longer work April, 2016. But all they need to do is sign in with their new Frontier ID and password.
Internet speeds will remain the same. Verizon billing issues will be handled by Frontier.
